News and Events at the Christian Counseling Center

Several times a year, we hold support groups for clients and the public on subjects of current interest as an outreach to our wider community. The programs have included such topics as:

• Overcoming depression
• The special needs of professional women
• Adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse
• Learning to handle personal boundaries
• Coping with grief and trauma
• Reducing stress
• Healthy self-assertiveness for girls aged 8 to 11

We also offer free screenings throughout the year to individuals for depression, anxiety, substance abuse and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. Interested persons meet individually with a member of the Counseling Center's professional staff, receive literature and, if needed, are referred to other community services. We ask that appointments for these screening interviews be made in advance by calling us at (203) 846-4626.

We now have two bilingqual therapists.

Edna Garay is completing her Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Fairfield University. Having grown up in Puerto Rico, Edna is fluent in Spanish as well as English.

Carla Pileggi was raised in Brazil. She is interning with CCC under the graduate program of the Nyack Seminary Graduate School of Professional Counseling. Carla is looking forward to using her Portugese with Portugese speaking clients.
